My swimmers that I made during my residency at the Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans, Louisiana will make a brief appearance on Lisa Ling's documentary series, TAKE OUT, on HBO Max. One segment in the series is about Filipino food and takes place in New Orleans. The swimmers and a few other pieces were used where the narrator talks about Filipino's jumping ship when the Spanish Galleons sailed into Acapulco, and as a transition to Manila Village. Thanks to Director and fellow Filipino, Lisa Yadao for connecting with me and supporting my work made in NOLA. Thank you Animator, Julia Liu for giving the swimmers life.
The swimmers were made from water buffalo hide and the shadow cast from their arms replicated the jaws of an alligator. The swimmer installation was shown at my solo exhibition titled, Kit Pa Ca Filé Bayou in 2019 at Jen Tough Gallery in Benicia.
